NORTH MIAMI, Fla. (Feb. 8, 2019) – The Johnson & Wales (Fla.) men's and women's basketball teams will travel to West Palm Beach, Florida, to take on the Keiser Seahawks in a Sun Conference doubleheader on Saturday, February 9.

JWU Women's Basketball

Last time out: Four Wildcats reached double-figures in scoring as the Johnson & Wales (Fla.) women's basketball team (7-16, 4-11 TSC) downed the Florida Memorial Lions (14-11, 7-7 TSC), 85-79, on Saturday afternoon. The Wildcats used a strong fourth-quarter push, out-scoring FMU, 26-7, in the final stanza. In the final 10 minutes, JWU shot 53.8 percent from the floor, while holding the Lions to just 2-of-16 shooting en route to the six-point victory. Sophomore Tianna Ayulo led the way, scoring a team-high 24 points on 9-of-19 shooting from the floor and 5-of-6 shooting from the free-throw line. Her 24 points moved the Hollywood, Florida, native to just nine points shy of 1,000 for her career. She also became the first player in JWU history to score 500-or-more points in a single season (502). Ayulo added a career-high 15 boards for her ninth double-double of the season to go along with a game-high six assists. Sophomore Alexis McClain notched her seventh double-double of the season, scoring 19 points and grabbing 11 rebounds. The native of Ft. Lauderdale, Florida, was 8-of-11 from the floor and 3-of-4 from the charity stripe. Senior JoNae Gonzales-Smith recorded 19 points on 7-of-15 shooting, draining four treys in the process. The native of increased her team-leading 3-point total to 61. She also dished out four assists and grabbed six boards. Freshman Jordan McDuffie contributed 12 points on 3-of-5 shooting and was 5-of-6 from the free-throw line. The native of White Plains, Maryland, hits some key free throws late in the game to seal the Wildcat victory.

JWU Men's Basketball

Last time out: Despite a career-high-tying 26-point performance by senior Jacknelson Joseph, the Johnson & Wales (Fla.) men's basketball team (2-20, 2-13 TSC) fell to the Florida Memorial Lions (5-21, 3-11 TSC), 80-75, on Saturday afternoon. Joseph went 9-of-16 from the floor, including 5-of-10 from 3-point range for his second 20-point performance of the season. The native of also grabbed a career-high nine rebounds and registered two steals. Freshman Dwayne Adams added 18 points on 7-of-19 shooting from the floor. The product of Miami dished out a game-high seven assists and registered seven boards.
