Men’s Basketball Knocks Off No. 16 Warner on Senior Day

NORTH MIAMI, Fla. (Feb. 16, 2019)
– Led by four Wildcats in double-figures, the Johnson & Wales (Fla.) men's basketball team (3-22, 3-15 TSC) knocked off the No. 16-ranked Warner Royals (21-9, 14-4 TSC), 74-70, on Saturday afternoon.

Prior to the game, JWU recognized its two seniors Jacknelson Joseph and David Joachim who were playing in the final game of their Wildcat careers.

In a game that saw six tied scores and nine lead changes, JWU held off WU in the final six minutes of the game to earn the four-point victory.

Joseph led all Wildcats with 21 points on 8-of-15 shooting. The native of Miami hit four treys while grabbing five rebounds and dishing out a team-high five assists. The 21 points marked the third time this season Joseph has scored 20-or-more points in a game this season.

Junior Michael Stuart contributed 19 points on 6-of-10 shooting from the floor and 5-of-8 shooting from 3-point range. Sophomore Jordan Martin added 13 points (6-of-10 shooting) followed by junior Sidney Alcena's 10 points on 3-of-4 shooting from the floor to go along with a 3-of-4 performance from the free-throw line.

The Wildcats shot 43.3 percent from the floor (26-of-60) and converted 13-of-28 attempts from 2-point land. Warner ended the night shooting 27-of-62 from the floor (43.5 percent) and was made 25.0 percent of its shots from downtown (5-of-20).

The Royals held a 43-30 advantage in rebounding an 11-3 edge on the offensive glass. JWU got big production from its bench, outscoring WU's bench 29-15.

With the win, JWU ends the 2018-19 season with a 3-22 record (3-15 in conference play).
