The third and final round of the SCAD NAIA Invitational began early Tuesday under sunny skies and high aspirations for a team that has a knack for final round comebacks.
Unfortunately for the Wildcats, they were unable to spark that late rally. Sr. Josh Briere turned in a gritty final round 73 followed by Brennan's 75, Ross' 76, and Anderson's 77 for a team total of 301. Brandon Meltzer rounded out the team with an 80 on day three.
The team entered the final round in 4th place and would hold that ground to finish 4th behind winner University of the Cumberlands, Lee University, and Coastal Georgia.
Briere's final round 73 and solid play throughout the tournament led him to a 1-under par total of 212 and a 4th place finish individually. Fellow senior Colin Brennan finished tied for 14th with a total of 219 (+6) for the tournament.
After a brief return home, the Wildcats will head up to the Mission Inn Resort in Howey in the Hills for their final event of the fall season. The Mission Inn Intercollegiate is an NCAA Division 1 tournament hosted by St. John's University.
