NORTH MIAMI, Fla. (Aug. 6, 2018) – Head Coach Danny Randolph announced the Johnson & Wales men's golf fall schedule on Monday which features six tournaments, including the Dave Adamonis Sr. Invitational at Trump National Doral – JWU's annual home event.
Coming off its 18th-consecutive appearance in the NAIA National Championship and a national ranking of tied for 12th, JWU enters its first year under Coach Randolph with competition against some of the nation's best.
The Wildcats tee off the 2018 fall campaign with a trip to Farmingdale, New York, for the Doc Glimmer Invitational (Sept. 8-9). Hosted by the St. John's Red Storm, the Doc Glimmer will be held at Bethpage State Park and played on the Red Course. Last season, JWU placed sixth among the 14-team field comprised entirely of NCAA Division I opponents.
A week later, JWU will compete in the inaugural Keiser Kup by Golfino Sept. 16-18. The tournament will be played on PGA National's Palmer Course and will feature a number of NAIA Top 25 teams. Named after its designer, Arnold Palmer, this course is one of the more forgiving at PGA National Resort from tee to fairway, known as a risk/reward game.
The Wildcats start October with the USCB Innisbrook Invitational (Oct. 1-2). Held at Innisbrook in Palm Harbor, Florida, competition will take place on the Copperhead Course. Pine tree-lined fairways and rolling terrain define the Copperhead Course – a lengthy challenge for even the longest hitters at more than 7,200 yards. Last season, JWU placed fourth in the 18-team field for the team's second of six Top-3 finishes on the year.
A return trip to PGA National takes place October 8-9 as the Wildcats take part in the Shark Invitational hosted by Nova Southeastern. Previously known as the GolfRank Invitational, the Shark Invitational will feature several top NCAA DII squads and will be played on famed Champions Course.
Less than a week later, JWU will head to Lake Wales, Florida, for this fall's "Sun Conference Major" in the form of the 25th Annual Webber Fall Invitational (Oct. 13-15). The tournament will be held at the Lake Wales Country Club which offers classic golf and outstanding conditioning that present a challenge to players of all levels. As with all Donald Ross courses, "hard par and easy bogey" rules the day.
JWU closes out its fall schedule with its annual Dave Adamonis Sr. Invitational at Trump National Doral (Oct. 29-30). Played on both the Red Tiger and Blue Monster, the late-October tournament is the Wildcats' yearly home event. Last season, JWU claimed the top spot in the rain-shortened invitational, shooting an 11-under thanks in part to co-runner-up Alex Rainville (-6).
