No. 13 @JWUMGolfNM Opens Season at The Doc Glimmer this Weekend

NORTH MIAMI, Fla. (Sept. 5, 2018) – The No. 13-ranked JWU men's golf team will open the 2018-19 season this weekend at The Doc Glimmer (Sept. 8-9) at the Bethpage State Red Course.

The 14-team field will consist of Johnson & Wales, St. John's, Connecticut, Hartford, Harvard, Hofstra, Iona, Loyola Maryland, Manhattan, Navy, Rhode Island, Towson, Villanova, and Yale. Fans can follow the action via GolfStat by clicking here.
Florida State claimed the team title during The Doc Gimmler last season after recording a 13-under par. The individual title for the 2017 Doc Gimmler went to Eoin Leonard of Yale, who followed a pair of 65s with a final round 69 to finish at 11-under par.
The Doc Gimmler will be contested on the Red Course at the Bethpage State Park, a 7,092-yard, par-70 track that opened in 1933 in Farmingdale, N.Y. The Red Course has served as the home of the Long Island Open Championship qualifier's round since 2012.

Coming off its 18th-consecutive appearance in the NAIA National Championship and a national ranking of tied for 12th, JWU enters its first year under Head Coach Danny Randolph with competition against some of the nation's best.

JWU (160-51 in 2017-18) closed out last season having produced a season stroke average of 291.20 over 15 events. The Wildcats finished fourth in the 2018 TSC Men's Golf Championship, marking the team's ninth Top-5 finish of 2017-18. During the 2017-2018 campaign, JWU amassed 19 individual top-10 finishes with 11  individual Top-5 results and two medalists.
