PALM BEACH GARDENS, Fla. (Sept. 18, 2018)
– Led by senior Cody Booska's 5-under (211), the Johnson & Wales men's golf team placed third during this year's Keiser Kup by Golfino.

The fall "Sun Conference Major" was played at PGA National's Palmer course (6,913 yards, par 72). JWU (292-295-290, 877) (No. 13 nation) finished 18 strokes back from first-place Keiser (No. 5 in the nation) (287-290-282, 859) and one stroke behind Thomas (298-290-288, 876).

Booska, who had an opening-round score of 68, began the three-day tournament atop the leaderboard with a two-stroke lead. The Wildcats were five-strokes back from the first-place Seahawks after 18. However, a 7-over second-round team put JWU 10 strokes behind Keiser. Booska shot an even-par on day two to put the Turners Falls, Massachusetts, product in a first-place tie with Keiser's Carl Didrik M. Fosaas.

On day three, the Wildcats dropped a spot, shooting a two-over as a team, and were leapfrogged by Thomas (even for the day), which was one-stroke behind JWU entering the final day of action. A two-under by junior Matt Maloney and a one-under by Booska on the final day was not enough to make up ground as JWU placed third.

Booska (68-72-71, 211) recorded his first Top-5 and second Top-10 finish of the year. Maloney, who finished the tournament with a 6-over (75-78-69, 222) placed tied for 14th. Sophomore Jens Bendiksen (playing as an individual) shot a seven-over (76-77-70, 223) for a tied for 19th finish. Junior Tim Bender finished tied for 21st with an 8-over, 224 (75-75-74). A 9-over, 225, by junior Gustav Tegel (74-74-77) (t-24th) and a 13-over, 229, by junior Baylee Wise (79-74-76) (t-36th) completed the JWU scores.

This marked the second Top-3 finish for the Wildcats this season (in two events) after the team had registered six last season (in 15 total events).

The Wildcats return to action on Monday, October 1, for the first round of the USCB Innisbrook Invitational in Palm Harbor, Florida. The three-round event will be played at the Innisbrook Resort's Copperhead Course.
