Bendiksen Leads Wildcats to Fifth-Place Finish at the Battle at Primm

NIPTON, Calif. (March 20, 2019)
– Led by sophomore Jens Bendiksen's 5-under 205, the No. 11-ranked Johnson & Wales men's golf team, placed fifth at this year's Battle at Primm on Tuesday.

Held at the Primm Valley Golf Club (6,841 yards, par 70), the three round tournament featured 20 teams and 100 golfers. The Wildcats (280-280-287, 847) finished behind Coastal Georgia (No. 2), Keiser (No. 6), Oklahoma City (No. 1), and Rocky Mountain (No. 7) on the tournament's team leaderboard. The Mariners won the event with a 12-under 828.

Bendiksen (67-69-69, 205) posted his first Top-5 finish of the season, shooting under par in all three rounds, including a career-best 67 during the opening round on Monday. With the season-low 205, the native of Stavanger, Norway, lowered his season stroke average to 75.69.

Following Bendiksen was senior Cody Booska, who posted 1-over 211 to place tied for 16th. Junior Gustav Tegel finished tied for 36th with a 7-over 217 followed by junior Matt Maloney (t-40th) with an 8-over 218 and junior Tim Bender (t-62nd) with a 12-over 222.

JWU will head to Dallas, Texas, to compete in the DBU Patriot Classic beginning Monday, April 1.
