Wildcats Place Eighth at the Battle at the Shores

MIAMI BEACH, Fla. (April 9, 2019)
– The No. 10-ranked Johnson & Wales (Fla.) men's golf team placed eighth at this year's Battle at the Shores hosted by Barry University.

The two-day (April 8-9), three-round tournament was held at the Normandy Shores Golf Club (6,733 yards, par 71) featuring a 15-team field comprised of nearly all NCAA Division II squads.

The Wildcats (289-306-300, 895) were led by senior Cody Booska (69-79-70, 218), who finished tied for 15th on the individual leaderboard, shooting five-over. Following Booska was sophomore Jens Bendiksen, who finished the event 10-over to tie for 31st. Junior Gustav Tegel placed tied for 38th with a 13-over, while junior Tim Bender shot a 15-over to place tied for 47th. Rounding out JWU's team scores was junior Matt Maloney (+21), who finished tied for 65th.

Two Wildcats played as individuals as junior Jared Silva shot 14-over to finish tied for 45th and senior Nick Fantasia ended the event tied for 49th with a 16-over.

JWU will next turn its attention to the 2019 Sun Conference Men's Golf Championships in Dade City, Florida. Played at the Lake Jovita Country Club, this year's championship will begin on Saturday, April 27.
