Men’s Soccer Hosts Ave Maria on Wednesday

NORTH MIAMI, Fla. (October 8, 2019) – The Johnson & Wales (Fla.) men's soccer team (1-4-0, 1-1-0 TSC) will host the Ave Maria Gyrenes (0-9-1, 0-3-0 TSC) on Wednesday, October 9. Game time from the Miami Shores Recreation Complex (9825 NE 7th Ave., Miami Shores, FL 33138) is set for noon.

JWU Men's Soccer

A 76th-minute goal by sophomore Lucas Colodrero led the Johnson & Wales (Fla.) men's soccer team (1-4-0, 1-1-0 TSC) to a 2-1 at Webber International (7-3-0, 1-2-0 TSC) on Sunday afternoon.

The game, originally scheduled for Saturday, October 5 but moved due to scheduling conflicts at WIU, was the third road contest of the 2019 season for the Wildcats and the first in conference play.

Freshman Farid Sar Sar got JWU on the board with his second goal of the season in the 44th minute. The goal was set up by a pass from sophomore Fernando Arzeno. For Arzeno it was his first assist of the season.

The Warriors responded with an equalizer in the 47th minute on a goal Matheus Gomes.

Colodrero capitalized on a corner kick by Nicolas Gomez in the 76th minute for his first score of the season, giving JWU a 2-1 lead. Gomez was credited with his first assist of the season on the goal.   

Goalkeeper Alex Marciulonis picked up the first win of his JWU career, making one save in 90 minutes of action.

JWU out-shot Webber 28-6 in the contest and held an 11-2 edge in shots on goal.

The Series History: Wednesday will mark the 14th meeting all-time between JWU and Ave Maria with the Gyrenes holding a 7-6-0 edge in the series history.
