Three Wildcats Earns Men’s Soccer All-Conference Honors

TAMPA, Fla. (November 7, 2019) -- The Sun Conference announced its 2019 men's soccer all-conference teams on Thursday with three Wildcats earning all-league honors. Freshman Farid Sar Sar and sophomore Nicolas Gomez were named to the Sun Conference Second Team while sophomore Alex Marciulonis garnered honorable mention recognition.

Sar Sar, a freshman defender, appeared in 10 games for the Wildcats, starting in nine. The native of San Martin, Argentina, finished the regular season with four goals and one assist for nine points. He recorded a career-high three points versus Southeastern (10/12), scoring a goal and registering an assist, scoring the game-tying goal with a converted PK attempt in the 85th minute. As a member of the JWU backline, Sar Sar helped the Wildcats post one shutout and record a 1.88 goals-against average. On the year, Sar Sar posted 12 total shots with seven on net.

Gomez, a sophomore midfielder, appeared in 10 matches for the Wildcats, starting in eight. The native of Pembroke Pines, Florida, recorded one assist during the 2019 regular season. Gomez scored his lone point of the season, tallying an assist in the Wildcat's 2-1 win at Webber International (10/6). The second-year Wildcat set up the game-winning goal by Lucas Colodrero, sending a corner kick into the area. On the year, Gomez has tallied three shots (one on goal) and has helped JWU to its third-straight berth in the Sun Conference Men's Soccer Championships.

Marciulonis, a sophomore goalkeeper, started in all 12 games for the Wildcats. The native of Wellington, Florida, posted a 3-6-3 record with one shutout and a 1.88 goals-against-average. A two-time TSC Defensive Player of the Week, Marciulonis registered 61 saves in 2019 with a save percentage of .726. Marciulonis notched his first collegiate shutout, making six saves at SCAD Savannah (10/20). He also set a career mark in saves with nine versus Southeastern (10/12). Marciulonis registered the first win of his JWU career in a 2-1 victory at Webber International (10/6).   

The 2019 Sun Conference Women's Soccer Tournament begins on Saturday with two quarterfinal matches. The semifinals will take place at Keiser and Southeastern on November 12, with the championship match on November 15 at the highest remaining seed.
