JWU Men's Soccer

For the first time in JWU history, the men's soccer program will play for the Sun Conference Championship this Friday after advancing on PKs (4-3) over the No. 14-ranked St. Thomas Bobcats (12-2-2) in a 1-1 draw on Tuesday night.

With a 4-3 edge in the PK shootout for JWU and STU taking their sixth attempt, sophomore Alex Marciulonis stopped Frederico Zanna's shot to eliminate the Bobcats and advance to the finals versus Keiser.

The Bobcats jumped out to an early first-half lead with a score in the 23rd minute.

However, the Wildcats responded with the equalizer in the 43rd minute. Freshman Michael Del Gaudio notched his goal of the season, flicking a header past STU keeper Michael Marx. The goal came off a free kick cross which was sent in by junior Felipe Andrade. For Andrade, it was his second assist of the season.

That would be all the scoring either team would produce for the reminder of the game, including two 10-minute overtime periods.

Marciulonis (4-6-4) earned the draw, making seven saves in 110 minutes of action.
