AVE MARIA, Fla. (Aug. 22, 2018) --- The Bees of SCAD-Savannah have been picked to win their fourth consecutive Sun Conference championship in the league's men's cross country preseason poll. The Bees won their third straight title at the conference championship in Ave Maria last year, placing five runners in the top 13.
In a poll of the league's head coaches, SCAD-Savannah was picked first on six of a possible eight ballots. Both of the Bees' First Team All-Sun Conference selections from last season return in Max Groff and Sage Reiger, as well as Second Team selection Jermaine Jones.
Warner and Southeastern follow the Bees in the poll, earning 48 and 43 points, respectively. Warner finished second at last season's conference championships, while Southeastern finished fourth. Keiser, St. Thomas, and Ave Maria earn the middle three spots, and each picked up one first place vote.
Webber International, USCB, and Johnson & Wales round out the preseason poll in the final three spots. Webber, who is coming off a fifth place finish last season, returns First Team All-Sun Conference selection Sean Trainor to their roster.
The 2018 Sun Conference Cross Country Championship will be hosted by Southeastern at Holloway Park in Lakeland, Fla., on Nov. 3.
