Lady Wildcats Throttle Trinity (Fla.), 106-68

– Five Lady Wildcats scored in double-figures, including a pair of 20-point performances as the Johnson & Wales women's basketball team (2-0) defeated Trinity (Fla.), 106-68, on Saturday afternoon on the campus of Ave Maria University.

For the second-straight game, senior Diamond Williams broke the 20-point plateau, posting 23 points on 8-of-14 shooting. She was joined by freshman Tiana Ayulo, who scored a game-high 27 points on 11-of-18 shooting from the floor. Grabbing eight rebounds, the native of Hollywood, Florida, was two boards shy of her second-straight double-double. Leading JWU in rebounding was senior Antranae Alvin, who collected 11 rebounds. Junior JoNae Gonzales tallied a game-high seven steals followed closely by Williams, who registered five.

The Lady Wildcats trailed for just 59 seconds in the first quarter before outscoring the Tigers, 36-16, in the opening stanza. A 25-15 advantage in the second gave JWU a 61-31 lead at halftime.

JWU produced 42 points off 31 Trinity turnovers while recording 17 steals in the contest.

The Lady Wildcats will host Voorhees College in the team's home opener on Wednesday, Nov. 1. Tipoff is set for 6:00 p.m.
