SAINT LEO, Fla. (Dec. 12, 2017) – In a game that produced 10 lead changes and eight tie scores, the Johnson & Wales women's basketball team (4-9) fell to the Saint Leo Lions (5-6), 72-70, in non-conference action on Tuesday night.
The Wildcats were led by Tianna Ayulo, who scored 17 points on 8-of-17 shooting from the floor and grabbed a game-high 12 rebounds for her fourth double-double of the season. Also scoring in double-figures was Bevin Mays, scoring 14 points on 6-of-14 shooting from the field.
JWU finished the night shooting 46.7 percent from the field (28-of-60) and 42.9 percent from 3-point range (9-of-21). The Lions converted 22-of-54 from the floor (40.7 percent) and were 5-of-16 from downtown (31.3 percent). The Wildcats out-rebounded Saint Leo, 41-26, but the Lions scored 22 points off 19 JWU turnovers.
The Wildcats will host Concordia (MI) on Monday, Dec. 18. Tipoff is scheduled for 5:30 p.m.
