LAKELAND, Fla. (Jan. 27, 2018) – The Johnson & Wales women's basketball team (8-14, 4-9 TSC) fell to the Southeastern Fire (22-0, 12-0 TSC), 94-54, on Saturday afternoon.
Diamond Williams led all Wildcats in scoring with 12 points on 4-of-14 shooting from the floor with all four shots coming from beyond the arc. JoNae Gonzales added nine points on 3-of-13 shooting and tied for the team lead in rebounding with six. Also grabbing six rebounds was Tianna Ayulo. She poured in six points on 3-of-9 shooting and contributed team highs in assists (3) and steals (3).
JWU ended the game, shooting 31.3 percent (20-of-64) from the floor and 25.8 percent (8-of-31) from 3-point range. SEU shot 50.0 percent (35-of-70) from the floor and drained 11 3-pointers. The Wildcats were out-rebounded, 45-40, while the Fire scored 35 points off 25 JWU turnovers.
The Wildcats will host St. Thomas on Thursday, February 1. Tipoff is set for 6:00 p.m.
