NORTH MIAMI, Fla. (Jan. 11, 2019) – The Johnson & Wales (Fla.) men's and women's basketball teams will host the Webber International Warriors in doubleheader Sun Conference action on Saturday, January 12.

JWU Women's Basketball

Last time out: Paced by a career-high 33 points by sophomore Tianna Ayulo, the Johnson & Wales (Fla.) women's basketball team (5-11, 2-6 TSC) picked up its second-straight conference victory with an 80-73 win at Warner (6-13, 0-8 TSC) on Thursday night. For the second-straight outing, Auylo reached the 30-point plateau, shooting 12-of-24 from the floor and 8-of-10 shooting from the free-throw line. The native of Hollywood, Florida, currently leads the Sun Conference in scoring, averaging 20.7 points-per-game. She also notched a team-high five assists and was tied for the team in rebounding (8). Senior JoNae Gonzales-Smith poured in 19 points in the victory, shooting 6-of-14 from the floor while draining five shots from beyond the arc. The native of Richmond, California, leads the team in 3-pointers this season with 40. She also corralled five rebounds and dished out four assists versus the Lady Royals. Freshman Jordan McDuffie added 10 points on 4-of-9 shooting from the floor and 2-of-3 shooting from the free-throw line. The product of White Plains, Maryland, was tied for the team lead in rebounding (with Ayulo), grabbing eight boards.

JWU Men's Basketball

Last time out: Four Wildcats reached double-figures in scoring as the Johnson & Wales (Fla.) men's basketball team (0-15, 0-8 TSC) lost the No. 22-ranked Warner Royals (13-6, 7-1 TSC), 93-86, on Thursday night. Senior Jacknelson Joseph led the way, scoring 20 points on 6-of-8 shooting from 3-point range to go along with a pair of made free throws. Junior Sidney Alcena and freshman Tristan Stephens scored 16 points apiece. Alcena made 5-of-11 shooting from the floor while Stephens converted 6-of-9 shots from the field. Both hit from long range three times in the contest. Rounding out the double-digit scorers for the Wildcats was junior Michael Stuart, who added 14 points on 5-of-7 shooting.
