NORTH MIAMI, Fla. (August 13, 2019) – Head Coach Kymberly Hope announced on Tuesday the signing of Jerrica Owens to the Johnson & Wales women's basketball program for the 2019-20 season.
Owens joins previously announced Shykim Gillion, Shikal Gillion, Megan Matheney and Chrystal Pressley to comprise the 2019-20 women's basketball signing class.
"I am very happy that Jerrica decided to continue her collegiate career at JWU," Coach Hope said. "Jerrica provides depth in the paint and she will be able to stretch the floor with her shooting ability. We are excited that she is joining an incoming recruiting class that is loaded with competitiveness, work ethic and the will to win."
Owens comes to JUW after redshirting during her freshman year at Florida National University. A native of St. Lucie, Florida, Owens graduated from St. Lucie West Centennial High School where she was a four-year letterwinner in basketball while also competing in swimming for one year.
During her senior season, she helped the Eagles to the District 8-9A Championship and the semifinals of the 2018 FHSAA Girls Basketball State Championships
