Ayulo’s 22 Points Paces Wildcats in 74-53 Win over Florida National

NORTH MIAMI, Fla. (November 5, 2019)
– Junior Tianna Ayulo registered her first 20-point game of the season, scoring 22 in a 74-53 win over Florida National (1-4) on Tuesday evening.

The native of Hollywood, Florida, led the Johnson & Wales (Fla.) women's basketball team (2-0) to its second-straight victory to start the season, shooting 10-of-17 from the floor, while grabbing six rebounds. She also posted five assists, once blocked shot and one steal.

Joining Ayulo in double-digit scoring were sophomore Jordan McDuffie (15) and freshman Shykim Gillion (11). McDuffie went 7-of-13 from the field while posting seven board. Gillion was 3-or-10 from the floor and 5-of-10 from the free-throw line and led JWU with seven assists.

Junior Chrystal Pressley notched a game-high 14 rebounds in the contest. It marked the first double-digit rebounding performance of Pressley's JWU career.

The Wildcats finished the night shooting 31-of-78 from the floor (39.7 percent) and were 2-of-22 from 3-point range (9.1 percent). The Conquistadors converted 30.9 percent for their shots from the field (21-of-68) and were 5-of-13 from downtown (38.5 percent). JWU out-rebounded FNU, 62-41, including a 28-16 edge on the offensive glass. The Wildcats also registered 11 blocked shots from seven different players.

JWU will travel to Jacksonville, Florida, to take on Trinity Baptist on Thursday, November 7. Game time is set for 5:30 p.m.
