Wildcats Win Second-Straight with 76-66 Victory Over Florida Memorial

NORTH MIAMI, Fla. (January 16, 2020)
– Double-doubles by senior Lexie Jackson and junior Tianna Ayulo helped lead the (rv) Johnson & Wales (Fla.) women's basketball team (12-4, 6-2 TSC) to its second-straight win, defeating the Florida Memorial Lions (8-10, 3-5 TSC), 76-66, on Thursday night.

Ayulo posted 23 points and grabbed 11 rebounds for her fourth double-double of the season. The native of Hollywood, Florida, shot 10-of-20 from the floor while dishing out five assists. Jackson recorded the first double-double of her JWU career, scoring 11 points and registering a career-high 12 rebounds. The native of Indio, California, also tallied two assists, two steals and one blocked shot.

Also scoring in double-figures were junior Alexis McClain (18) and sophomore Jordan McDuffie (10).  McClain was 7-of-11 from the floor and a perfect 4-of-4 from the free-throw line while McDuffie notched a game-high six assists to go along with five rebounds and two steals.

The Wildcats ended the night, shooting 38.5 percent from the floor (30-of-78) and were 4-of-14 from 3-point range (28.6 percent). The Lions were 26-of-71 from the field (36.6 percent) and converted 33.3 percent of their shots from 3-point range (8-of-24).

JWU held a 59-35 edge in rebounding including a 27-11 advantage on the offensive glass.

The Wildcats will travel to Miami Gardens, Florida, to take on St. Thomas on Saturday, January 18. Game time is set for 2:00 p.m.
