WEST PALM BEACH, Fla. (January 25, 2020) – Recording her second-straight 30-point outings, junior Tianna Ayulo helped guide the Johnson & Wales (Fla.) women's basketball team (14-4, 8-2 TSC) to an 80-70 win over the Keiser Seahawks (9-11, 3-7 TSC). The win marked the 14th victory of the season for the Wildcats – the most in school history.
In a game that saw four lead changes and had the score tied eight times, JWU used 23 points in the third quarter and 22 in the fourth to pull away from the Seahawks for the 10-point win.
Ayulo notched 30 points on 11-of-17 shooting from the floor. The native of Hollywood, Florida, drained three 3-point buckets and was 5-of-6 from the line for her second 30-point game of the season. Ayulo also grabbed five rebounds, notched three assists and had two steals.
Also scoring in double-figures were sophomore Jordan McDuffie (16) and junior Alexis McClain (13). McDuffie was 6-of-11 from the field and was tied for the team lead in assists (4). McClain was 6-of-10 from the floor, grabbed four boards, had three assists and two steals.
Junior Chrystal Pressley led all Wildcats with seven rebounds.
JWU finished the game shooting 41.9 percent from the floor (31-of-74) and was 8-of-22 from 3-point range (36.4 percent). KU shot 27-of-59 from the field (45.8 percent) and shot 28.6 percent from beyond the arc (4-of-14).
JWU held a 41-31 edge in rebounding, including an 18-8 advantage on the offensive glass. The Wildcats also forced 17 Seahawk turnovers, resulting in 27 points for JWU.
The win marked the team's eight conference victory of the season, tying the school record for TSC wins in a season (8 in 2017-18).
JWU will host the Warner Royals on Thursday, January 30. Game time is set for 5:30 p.m.
