NORTH MIAMI, Fla. (Sept. 5, 2018) – The Johnson & Wales women's soccer team (2-1-0) returns home to host the Glenville State Pioneers on Friday, September 7. Kickoff from Miami Shores Village (9825 NE 7th Ave., Miami Shores, FL 33138) is set for 3:00 p.m.

The Wildcats are coming off a two-game road trip in which JWU went 1-1. A 4-3 win at Florida College on Thursday, August 30, gave the Wildcats their second win of the season as sophomore Savannah Jackson registered her second multiple-goal game of the year. The native of Davenport, Florida, scored the game-winning goal (her second of the season) and assisted on the game-tying goal by junior Sawyer Hall (the first goal of her JWU career). The Wildcats wrapped up the two-game swing with a 1-0 loss at Eckerd College on Saturday, September 1.

JWU comes into Friday's contest, averaging 2.33 goals-per-game while outshooting the opposition, 56-26. The Wildcats are averaging 18.7 shots-per-game. Jackson leads all Wildcats with nine points on the year (4g, 1a). Jackson currently ranks No. 3 in the Sun Conference and No. 9 in the nation in shots per game (6.67). Jackson is also tied for No. 3 in the conference and ranks No. 16 in the nation in total goals scored (4) and is No. 3 in the nation in game-winning goals (2). Three other Wildcats have scored goals this season, including Annet Cea (1), Hall (1), and Danielle Gomez (1).

First-Time Scorers: Last week, the Wildcats saw a few of its members registered the first points of their JWU career. Sawyer Hall and Danielle Gomez each notched the first goals of their JWU careers while Mariah Zayas and Tyler Einsmann each recorded their first assists in a Wildcat uniform.

Series History: Friday will mark the first meeting all-time between JWU and Glenville State.

A Look at Glenville State: The Pioneers enter Friday's contest with a 0-2-0 record and are coming off a 4-0 Mountain East Conference loss at Shepherd on Wednesday afternoon. GSC's contest with JWU will be the team's third match in the last five days.
