MIAMI SHORES, Fla. (Sept. 26, 2018)
– The Johnson & Wales women's soccer team (5-3-0, 2-1-0 TSC) registered its second shutout of the season, blanking Ave Maria (2-5-0, 0-2-0 TSC), 5-0, on Wednesday afternoon.

Led by Savannah Jackson's third hat trick of the year, the Wildcats jumped out to a 2-0 lead in the first 19 minutes of action and never looked back.

Jackson got JWU on the board in the 10th minute with her 12th goal of the season. The score was a result of a give-and-go with senior Annet Cea in the Gyrene area. Cea, who received a pass from Jackson left of the keeper, sent it back to the Davenport, Florida, native, who found the back of the net to make the score 1-0.

Jackson converted her fourth penalty-kick attempt of the season to give JWU a 2-0 advantage in the 19th minute. Freshman Chelsea Green sent a shot from 18 yards out to beat AMU goalkeeper Molly Jensen in the 41st minute to make the score 3-0. The native of West Bay, Cayman Islands, received a pass from junior Sawyer Hall down the middle of the field to set up the score. The goal was the second of the season for Green while the assist for Hall was her second of the campaign.

Jackson completed her hat trick in the 51st minute scoring from left of the keeper. Senior Audrey Gant sent a through ball to Jackson, who was streaking down the right side of the field. The JWU striker took a shot from a tough angle and curled it past Jensen to give the Wildcats a 4-0 lead.

Hall gave JWU a 5-0 lead with a free-kick goal in the 54th minute. The native of Pembroke Pines, Florida, took a direct kick from nearly 20 yards out which sailed over the wall and under the crossbar for the midfielder's third goal of the season.

Freshman goalkeeper Kellie Fitzpatrick (5-2-0) made five saves for the shutout victory – the first of her JWU career.

The win improves JWU to 6-5-2 all-time versus the Gyrenes as the Wildcats have won four straight versus Ave Maria.

JWU will travel to travel to Babson Park, Florida, to take on Webber International on Sunday, September 30. Game time is set for 3:00 p.m.
