Wildcats Fall to No. 6 Keiser, 4-1

MIAMI SHORES, Fla. (Oct. 10, 2018)
– The Johnson & Wales women's soccer team (7-5-0, 4-3-0 TSC) fell to the No. 6-ranked Keiser Seahawks (12-2-1, 6-0-1 TSC), 4-1, on Wednesday afternoon from the Miami Shores Recreation Complex.

The Wildcats jumped out to a 1-0 lead in the 13th minute when senior Carissa Sanchez scored her fourth goal of the season on a breakaway down the middle of the field. Sophomore Savannah Jackson slotted a through ball to the streaking Sanchez, who struck a shot past Keiser goalkeeper Nina Haeberlin. The goal was the third in the last four games for the native of Miami. Jackson was credited with her fourth assist of the season on the score.

The Seahawks tied the match in the 33rd minute, sending the contest into halftime even at 1-1. KU held a 20-10 edge in total shots during the first 45.

Coming out of the break, the Wildcats had a chance to take the lead in the 52nd minute when Jackson drew a penalty kick attempt. The native of Davenport, Florida, looked to bury her fifth PK goal of the season, however, Haeberlin deflected the shot wide to keep the score level at 1-all.

Keiser broke the draw in the 69th minute and added insurance goals in the 71st and 76th minutes.

JWU was outshot in the contest 40-12, including 16-5 in shots on goal.

Freshman Kellie Fitzpatrick recorded a career-high 12 saves in the loss.

The Wildcats will host the Warner Royals on Wednesday, October 17. Game time is set for noon.
