JWU’s Gant and Jackson Named to Google Cloud Academic All-District I Team

NORTH MIAMI, Fla. (Nov. 8, 2018) – JWU's Audrey Gant and Savannah Jackson were recognized for their success on the field and in the classroom by being named to the 2018 Google Cloud Academic All-District I® Women's Soccer Team, selected by CoSIDA.

Gant, who is working towards her MBA while notching a 4.00 GPA in sports, entertainment and event management as an undergrad, appeared in 16 games for the Wildcats, making 15 starts primarily on the JWU backline. The native of Plantation, Florida, recorded one goal and three assists for seven points in 2018. All three totals were single-season records for the Wildcat defender. Gant notched a JWU-career-high three points at Florida Memorial (10/3), scoring her first goal in a Wildcat uniform in a 3-0 win over the Lions. Gant has been part of a JWU backline that helped the Wildcats post four shutouts (three in conference action) in 2018.

Jackson, who has a 3.80 GPA in criminal justice, started in all 17 games for the Wildcats. The native of Davenport, Florida, set the single-season school records for goals (28) and points (62) in 2018. She also added a career-high six assists. Jackson tallied 11 multiple-goal games, including four hat tricks. She registered eight game-winning goals, averaging 0.47 game-winners-per-contest (No. 4 in the nation). Jackson ranked No. 4 in the nation in total points, total game-winning goals, points-per-game (3.65) and goals-per-contest (1.65). Her averages in points and goals also ranked No. 2 in the Sun Conference. Jackson scored at least one goal in 13 contests and notched a point in all but two outings.
