The Wildcats are coming off a 5-1 win over Florida National to start the season. Junior Savannah Jackson scored a school-record four goals as JWU won its sixth-straight, season-opener and improved to 7-0-1 over the last eight season openers.

FNU took an early 1-0 lead after a ninth-minute goal by Dominique Mosley. In the waning moments of the first half, Jackson notched her first score of the 2019 campaign with a goal in the 44th minute. Set up by freshman Brazil Clark, the goal made the match even at 1-all heading into halftime.

Coming out of the break Jackson and the Wildcats were not finished lighting up the scoreboard. In the 48th minute, the native of Winter Haven, Florida, gave JWU the lead with her second goal of the game and 15th game-winner of her career. Sophomore Mariah Zayas was credited with the assist on the play. Jackson netted goal number three in the 57th minute for the sixth hat trick of her career, giving JWU a 3-1 lead. Two minutes later, Jackson made school history with her career-best fourth goal of the game. Assisted by junior Ashlyn Hannus, Jackson gave the Wildcats a 4-1 edge in the 59th minute.

JWU capped off its day of scoring with a beautiful goal by senior Sawyer Hall in the 68th minute. Hall buried a header off a set piece by junior Lizzy Madril late in the contest for her first goal of the season.

Freshman goalkeeper Denise Mendoza (1-0-0) picked up the first win of her collegiate career, allowing just one goal while making five saves versus the Conquistadors.

With four goals on the afternoon, Jackson (105 pts.) became the first player in JWU history to record 100-or-more points for their career. Jackson entered the day with 97 career points, adding eight points in the win.
