Women’s Soccer Heads to Boca for Mid-Week Match at Lynn

NORTH MIAMI, Fla. (September 16, 2019) – The Johnson & Wales (Fla.) women's soccer team (4-0-0) travels to Boca Raton, Florida, to take on Lynn University (1-2) on Tuesday evening. Game time for Bobby Campbell Stadium is 6:00 p.m.

JWU Women's Soccer

The Wildcats used five first-half goals to down the Florida Memorial Lions in non-conference action on Saturday, September 14.

Led by Savannah Jackson, who recorded four goals versus the Lions (all in the first half) to increase her Sun Conference-leading scoring total to 15. Jackson, who entered the game leading the nation in goals-per-game, points-per-game, shots-on-goal-per game, and game-winning goals-per-game, led the team with six total shots (five on frame) and posted the 20th multiple-goal game of her career.

The native of Winter Haven, Florida, got JWU on the board with a strike in the fifth minute. The score, which was ultimately the game-winning goal, was the fourth game-winner of the season for Jackson and the 18th of her career. Senior Tyler Einsmann was credited with her first assist of the season on the score. She found the back of the next two minutes late to give the Wildcats a 2-0 lead. Senior Sawyer Hall was credited with her second assist of the season on Jackson's goal.

In the 19th minute, Jackson registered her third hat trick of the season and eighth of her career as the third-year Wildcat streaked down the middle of the field past the FMU defense to beat goalkeeper Garcy Momplaisir and give JWU a 3-0 lead. Once again Einsmann set up the score, earning the assist on the play (her second of the game).

Hall notched her second goal of the season in the 23rd minute, drilling a shot to the upper left 90 of the net to extend the Wildcat lead, 4-0. Einsmann set up the score for her third assist of the game.

Jackson got on the scoreboard in the 33rd minute for her fourth goal of the game and add to the Wildcat lead (5-0) after receiving a pass from sophomore Brianna Pineiro. For Pineiro is was her first assist of the season.

The Wildcats added a goal in the 55th minute when sophomore Andrea Chavez notched the first goal of her collegiate career in her first appearance with JWU. Freshman Claudisha Curtis recorded her first collegiate assist on the score.

Freshman goalkeeper Denise Mendoza (4-0-0) picked up the win, recording three saves for the shutout of her JWU career.

For the match, the Wildcats out-shot FMU, 20-9, including a 12-3 edge in shots on goal.
