Recording her seventh hat trick of the season and 11th of her career, junior Savannah Jackson helped lead the Johnson & Wales (Fla.) women's soccer team (8-2-0, 3-1-0 TSC) to a 5-1 win at Ave Maria (1-9-0, 0-3-0 TSC) on Wednesday night.

Despite falling behind, 1-0, following a goal by AMU's Meghan Precord in the 14th minute, JWU responded with the equalizer in the 15th minute on a goal by freshman Versailles Clark. The goal was the first of Clark's career and began a string of five-straight goals scored by the Wildcats.

Jackson netted her first score of the night in the 29th minute. After drawing a foul just outside the Gyrene area, Jackson took the free kick and buried a shot upper-right 90 to give JWU a 2-1 edge. The goal was the 25th of the season for the native of Winter Park, Florida, and the 70th of her Wildcat career.

Jackson added to the Wildcat lead with her second goal of the game in the 50th minute, getting past Ave Maria defender Hannah Dalton and sending a shot far post. With a 3-1 lead, Jackson continued to pressure the Gyrene defense, drawing a foul in the box, resulting in a penalty kick attempt in the 56th minute. Junior Ashlyn Hannus converted the PK attempt for her first goal as a Wildcat, giving JWU a 4-1 lead.

Jackson closed out the scoring with a score in the 86th minute, recording her 27th goal of the season. Streaking past the AMU backline, Jackson beat goalkeeper Sofia Lopez for the third time in the evening to give JWU the 5-1 lead.

Goalkeeper Denise Mendoza (8-2-0) picked up the will allowing one goal while making three saves in 90 minutes of action.

The Wildcats held a 16-8 advantage in total shots and a 10-4 edge in shots on goal.
