JWU Women's Soccer

Junior Savannah Jackson, the school's all-time leading scorer, added to her record-breaking total with a school-record six goals as the Johnson & Wales (Fla.) women's soccer team (10-2-0, 5-1-0 TSC) defeated Florida Memorial (0-13-0, 0-7-0 TSC), 9-0, on Wednesday afternoon.

Jackson was one of three Wildcats to register a goal versus the Lions as freshman Versailles Clark netted one and junior Ashlyn Hannus record two in the lopsided, shutout victory.

Jackson got JWU on the board in the 22nd minute with her 31st goal of the season. Senior Tyler Einsmann lofted a ball to the Wildcat striker, who beat FMU goalkeeper Garcy Momplaisir to her right. Einsmann notched her seventh assist of the season on the goal.

Clark extended JWU's lead, 2-0, in the 30th minute with her second goal of 2019. Senior Sawyer Hall tallied her first of three assists in the game, sending a through ball to Clark in the Lions area.

Hall registered assist number two in the 44th minute after intercepting an FMU goal kick and sending a pass to Jackson on the left side of the 18. The native of Winter Haven, Florida, pushed a shot past Momplaisir for her second goal of the game.

Hall made it three-straight helpers with a pass to Jackson in the 47th minute which led the third-year Wildcat to her third goal of the game. The hat trick marked her ninth of the season and 13th of her JWU career.

Jackson scored her fourth goal of the match in the 54th minute. Einsmann notched her second assist of the game sending a free kick towards the area where Jackson converted for the score. She then added her fifth goal of the game in the 61st minute scoring off a ball driven in the area by sophomore Mariah Zayas. Both Zayas and freshman Brazil Clark were credited with assists on the goal. The goal was Jackson's 80th of her career.

Hannus made the score 7-0, notching her second goal of the season. On a beautiful play set up by Jackson and Zayas, Hannus found the back of the net in the 64th minute. She wasn't done, scoring her second goal of the match three minutes later after a strong throw in by Jackson, earning the team's leading scorer her second assist of the afternoon.

Jackson closed out the scoring converting a penalty kick attempt in the 74th minute. The goal set the school mark for goals scored in a single game (set by Jackson earlier this year).

Freshman goalkeeper Denise Mendoza (10-2-0) picked up the win – her sixth shutout of the season – recording five saves versus the Lions.

JWU held a 33-8 edge in total shots and a 16-5 advantage in shots on goal.

The win was the 10 of the season for JWU, making it the second-straight season the Wildcats recorded 10-or-more wins in a year.
