Women’s Soccer Closes Out the Regular Season at Thomas

NORTH MIAMI, Fla. (November 1, 2019) – The Johnson & Wales (Fla.) women's soccer team (11-3-1, 6-2-1 TSC) will travel to Thomasville, Georgia, to take on the Thomas Night Hawks (7-9-1, 4-4-1 TSC) in the final regular season game for both teams on Saturday, November 2. Game time is set for 2:00 p.m.

JWU Women's Soccer

For the first time in program history, the Johnson & Wales (Fla.) women's soccer team (11-3-1, 6-2-1 TSC) won 11 games in a single season with a 2-1 victory at Warner (4-11-0, 3-6-0 TSC) on Wednesday night.

The win also clinched a spot in this year's Sun Conference Women's Soccer Playoffs, giving the Wildcats their sixth league victory of the season (tying last year's record-setting mark).

JWU got on the board, early, following a converted penalty kick by junior Savannah Jackson in the 10th minute. The goal was the 39th of the season for the native of Winter Haven, Florida.

WU tied the match in the 11th minute with a goal by Maddie Manzke.

Jackson netted the eventual game winner (her 10th of the season and 24th of her career) with a goal in the 68th minute. Senior Tyler Einsmann assisted Jackson on the goal for her 10th helper of 2019 (JWU school record). Currently leading the Sun Conference, the goal for Jackson was her 40th of the year and 85th of her career.

Freshman goalkeeper Denise Mendoza (11-3-1) recorded five saves on the night to become he first JWU keeper to notch 11 wins in a season.   

The Royals held a 13-11 edge in total shots while JWU had a 7-6 advantage in shots on net.
