Women’s Soccer Hosts Thomas in the Quarterfinals of the TSC Championships

NORTH MIAMI, Fla. (November 8, 2019) – The Johnson & Wales (Fla.) women's soccer team (11-4-1) will host the Thomas Night Hawks (9-8-1) in the quarterfinals of the 2019 Sun Conference Women's Soccer Championships on Saturday, November 9. Game time from the Miami Shores Recreation Complex (9825 NE 7th Ave., Miami Shores, FL 33138) is set for 2:00 p.m.

JWU Women's Soccer

The Johnson & Wales (Fla.) women's soccer team (11-4-1, 6-3-1 TSC) closed out the 2019 regular season with a 2-1 overtime loss at Thomas (9-8-1, 5-4-1 TSC) on Saturday afternoon.

After a scoreless first half, TU took a 1-0 lead in the 72nd minute with a goal by Lexie McDaniel.

Eight minutes later, junior Savannah Jackson tied the match with her 41st goal of the 2019 season.

With neither team able to break the tie in regulation, the match went to overtime.

The Night Hawks scored the golden goal with just five seconds left in the first overtime to come away with the one-goal victory. Analice Wilkes scored a goal in the 100th minute to hand JWU its fourth conference loss of the season.

Freshman Denise Mendoza (11-4-1) suffer the loss, making four saves in 100 minute of action.

The Night Hawks out-shot the Wildcats, 30-12 in the contest and held a 6-4 edge in shots on goal.
