DAYTONA BEACH, Fla. (April 1, 2019) -- Senior Taylor Deveaux set the season mark in the Sun Conference in the Javelin at the Embry-Riddle Spikes Classic this past weekend as the Johnson & Wales (Fla.) track & field team continued its 2019 campaign.
Deveaux, along with junior Sharell Nairn and freshman Xavier Charles, represented JWU among the classic's collegiate competitors.
Deveaux set a season-best mark of 29.70m in the Javelin to finish fourth in the meet and set a new season-high mark in the conference, breaking her previous mark of 29.02m set at the Sharks Invitational Meet (3/12). The throw, for the native of West Berlin, New Jersey, was the third-longest of her JWU career.
Nairn competed in both the 200m dash and the long jump. The native of Miami posted a PR of 31.84 in the 200 while placing 24th in the long jump with a mark of 4.29m.
Charles set a PR in the shot put with a mark of 7.49m. The native of Land O' Lakes, Florida, placed 16th with his throw.
The Wildcats will compete in the South Florida Invitational in Miramar, Florida, beginning April 12.
