NORTH MIAMI, Fla. (Sept. 13, 2018) – The Johnson & Wales volleyball team (4-6) travels to New Port Richey, Florida, take on Trinity College (1-5) in a mid-week, non-conference contest on Thursday night. Game time from the New Port Richey Rec Center is set for 6:00 p.m.

The Wildcats are coming off a tough 3-2 loss in Sun Conference action at St. Thomas on Wednesday evening. Junior Sierra Mooney led all Wildcats with 10 kills. Junior Sharell Nairn followed closely behind Mooney with nine kills. The Miami product notched a team-best 17 digs. Sophomores Savannah Swenson and Bianca Torres also reached double-figures in digs with 16 and 14, respectively. Freshman Vanessa Orozco and sophomore Anissa Giammona registered 15 assists each to pace the Wildcats. 

JWU enters Thursday's contest averaging 10.20 kills-per-set with a team hitting percentage of .152. The Wildcats are averaging 12.18 digs- and 9.32 assists-per-set, while ranking No. 2 in the conference and No. 11 in the nation in service aces-per-set (2.33). With 55 total team blocks, JWU 1.38 blocks-per-set good for No. 4 in the Sun Conference.

Leading the way offensively for the Wildcats is Swenson, who comes into Thursday's contest with 107 kills for an average of 2.67 kills-per-set. The native of Clermont, Florida, also leads the team in service aces (21) – No. 2 in the conference. Mooney is second on the team with 98 kills, averaging 2.45 kills-per-set with a hitting percentage of .295. Her hitting percentage ranks No. 3 in the conference. Narin rounds out the Wildcat's top offensive players with 93 kills. The school's all-time leader in kills (439), Nairn is averaging 2.33 kills-per-set. The team leader in digs is Swenson (112) followed by Torres with 101. Orzoco has recorded a team-best 223 assists.

A Look at Trinity College: The Tigers come into Thursday's game with a 1-5 record having lost two-straight following a 3-0 loss versus Florida National on September 11.
