NORTH MIAMI, Fla. (Sept. 18, 2018) – The Johnson & Wales volleyball team (5-7, 0-3 TSC) hosts Florida Memorial (5-4, 0-2 TSC) in a mid-week Sun Conference clash on Wednesday, September 19. First serve from the Wildcat Center is set for 7:00 p.m.

The Wildcats are coming off a 3-0 (25-16, 25-19, 25-18) loss to Warner on Saturday, September 15. The Wildcats were led by sophomore Savannah Swenson, who posted a game-high 14 kills with a .357 hitting percentage. The native of Clermont, Florida, also collected nine digs versus the Lady Royals. Sophomore Bianca Torres tallied a team-high 11 digs to increase her career total to 579 (JWU's all-time leader). Also recording double-digit in digs was sophomore Anissa Giammona, who also registered a team-high 16 assists in the contest for her second double-double of the season. Freshman Vanessa Orozco also notched a double-digit total in assists, recording 10 on Saturday.
JWU comes into Wednesday's match looking for the team's first conference win of the season. The Wildcats are averaging 10.20 kills-per-set with a team hitting percentage of .163. On the defensive side of the net, JWU is averaging 13.26 digs-per-set and have recorded 67.5 total team blocks. Swenson leads the team in kills (129) and is second in digs (135), averaging 2.80 kills-per-set and 2.93 digs-per-set. The second-year Wildcat has also accounted for 25 of the team's 100 total aces this season. Junior Sierra Mooney is second on the team in kills (109) and has recorded a team-high 30 total blocks this season. Junior Sharell Nairn has also notched 100-or-more kills this season, posting 106 (averaging 2.30 kps). Torres is leading the team in total digs with 137, averaging 2.98 digs-per-set. She is third on the team in service aces with 19.
Series History: Wednesday's contest will mark the sixth meeting all-time between JWU and Florida Memorial with the Lions leading the series history, 5-0. The last meeting between the two programs took place earlier this season (August 25) in a non-conference meeting at the Mac Attack Volleyball Classic hosted by Edward Waters. The Lions defeated the Wildcats, 3-1 (26-24, 22-25, 25-22, 25-11).
A Look at Florida Memorial: The Lions come into Wednesday's contest having lost three-straight including a 3-0 home loss to Southeastern on Saturday. Florida Memorial is averaging 11.68 kills-per-set with a team hitting percentage of .159. The Lions are averaging 11.03 digs-per-set and have totaled 47 blocks in 2018.
