NORTH MIAMI, Fla. (Oct. 6, 2018)
– The Johnson & Wales volleyball team (8-13, 1-9 TSC) fell to the Southeastern Fire (17-2, 9-1 TSC), 3-0 (25-15, 25-18, 25-22), in Sun Conference action on Saturday afternoon from the Wildcat Center.

The Fire took a 1-0 lead with a 25-15 win in set one, holding the Wildcats to a .000 hitting percentage. JWU could not overcome a .321 attack percentage by SEU in set two, despite sophomore Savannah Swenson's five kills on eight total attacks and no errors (.625). The Wildcats went into set three down 2-0 after the 25-18 loss in the second frame. Junior Vitoria Nicolau posted a team-high five kills in set three. However, four total team blocks by the Fire proved to be the difference as JWU dropped the set, 25-22, and lost the match, 3-0.  

The Wildcats were led offensively by Swenson, who finished the match with 12 kills and was one dig shy (9) of notching a double-double. Freshman Vanessa Orozco posted her ninth double-double of the season, registering 26 assists and 16 digs versus SEU. The native of Kissimmee, Florida, ended the day recording her 500th assist of the season. Sophomore Bianca Torres notched a match-high 20 digs on Saturday giving JWU's all-time leader in digs to 700 for her career.

JWU finished the match hitting .085 to SEU's .214. The Fire held a 10.0-6.0 advantage in total team blocks and out-dug the Wildcats, 67-59.

JWU will host Florida National on Wednesday, October 10. Game time is set for 6:00 p.m.
