The Wildcats enter Wednesday's contest looking to snap a current eight-game losing skid. JWU is averaging 10.36 kills-per-set with a team hitting percentage of .137. The team is averaging 14.68 digs-per-set and has tallied 128.5 total team blocks (JWU single-season record).
The Wildcats are led offensively by junior Sharell Nairn who is averaging 2.73 kills-per-set. The native of Miami is tied for the team lead in service aces (34 with sophomore Savannah Swenson) and is averaging 1.65 digs-per-set. Swenson is second on the team in kills, averaging 2.61 kills-per-set while averaging 2.57 digs-per-set (No. 2 on the squad). Freshman Vanessa Orozco comes into Wednesday's action with a team-best 565 assists – second-most in a single season at JWU. The native of Kissimmee, Florida, is third on the team in digs (2.46 per set) and has recorded 22 service aces. Sophomore Bianca Torres – the school's all-time leader in digs – has registered 325 in 2018 and enters the FNU contest with 767 for her career.
Series History: Wednesday's match will mark the eighth meeting all-time between JWU and Florida National with the Conquistadors leading the series history, 7-0. The last meeting between the two schools resulted in a 3-0 win for FNU on October 9, 2018, in North Miami, Florida.
