NORTH MIAMI, Fla. (Nov. 2, 2018) – The Johnson & Wales (Fla.) volleyball team (9-20, 1-14 TSC) travels to Brunswick, Georgia, to close out the 2018 regular season at Coastal Georgia (18-11, 10-5 TSC) on Saturday, November 3. Game time from Coffin Gym is set for 1:00 p.m.
The Wildcats enter Saturday's game averaging 10.10 kills-per-set with a .130 team hitting percentage. JWU is averaging 14.55 digs-per-set and has totaled 142.5 team blocks in 2018.
Junior Sharell Nairn leads the Wildcats offensively, averaging 2.69 kills-per-set. The native of Miami has a season attack percentage of .206 and is third on the team in total blocks (35). Nairn is the school's all-time leader in kills (620). Sophomore Savannah Swenson is second on the team in kills, averaging 2.55 kills-per-set. The native of Clermont, Florida, is also averaging 2.66 digs-per-set and leads JWU with 41 service aces. Junior Sierra Mooney is the top Wildcat in blocks with 65 this season (single-season school record). The native of Middleburg, Florida, is averaging 2.12 kills-per-set and has the team's top hitting percentage (.217). Freshman setter Vanessa Orozco has tallied 649 assists this season, averaging 6.76 assists-per-set (No. 4 in the conference). The product of Kissimmee, Florida, set the school's single-season record for assists last week. Sophomore Bianca Torres is the team's leader in digs, producing 359 in 2018. The Miami native is the school's all-time leader in digs (801), becoming the first player in JWU history with 800-or-more digs in a career.
Series History: Saturday's match will mark the fourth meeting all-time between JWU and Coastal Georgia with the Mariners holding a 3-0 edge in the series history. The last meeting between the two schools resulted in a 3-0 loss on September 29, 2018, in North Miami, Florida.
