Volleyball Falls to Coastal Georgia, 3-0; Orozco notches 1,000th-Career Assist

BRUNSWICK, Ga. (October 5, 2019)
– The Johnson & Wales (Fla.) volleyball team (4-11, 0-7 TSC) dropped a 3-0 (25-14, 25-9, 25-17) decision at Coastal Georgia (13-5, 6-1 TSC) on Saturday afternoon.

Sophomore Vanessa Orozco became the first player in JWU history to record 1,000 career assists, recording 17 versus the Mariners to increase her career total to 1,013.

Senior Sharell Nairn led all Wildcats with 12 kills on 40 total attempts. The native of Miami, Florida, also registered a team-high 14 digs for her ninth double-double of the season.

The Wildcats ended the match with 19 total kills and 15 errors on 91 attempts (.044) while the Mariners recorded 38 kills and 13 errors on 89 total attempts (.281). CCG held a 53-34 edge in total digs and had 3.0 total team blocks.

JWU will travel to Lake Wales, Florida, to take on the Warner Royals on Wednesday, October 9. First serve is set for 7:00 p.m.
