NORTH MIAMI, Fla. (October 11, 2019) – The Johnson & Wales (Fla.) volleyball team (5-12) fell to the Florida National Conquistadors (12-8), 3-0 (25-14, 25-18, 25-23) on Friday afternoon.
Senior Sharell Nairn led all Wildcats with 13 kills in the match. The native of Miami, Florida, recorded a .262 hitting percentage to go along with five digs and two service aces.
Junior Bianca Torres led JWU with 14 digs. Also joining Torres in double-digit digs was senior Vitoria Nicolau, who posted 10.
Sophomore Vanessa Orozco registered 13 assists versus FNU.
The Wildcats ended the match with 25 kills and 10 errors on 93 total attacks (.161) while FNU notched 47 kills with 13 errors on 106 total attacks (.321). The Conquistadors held a 53-42 edge in total digs and had 3.0 total team blocks to 2.0 for JWU.
The Wildcats will host the Warner Royals on Saturday, October 12. Game time is set for 2:00 p.m.
