HARDEEVILLE, S.C. (November 9, 2019) – The 2019 Sun Conference Cross Country Championships took place on Saturday with three members of the Johnson & Wales (Fla.) cross country team taking part in the competition.

"This year's cross-country country championship was great exposure for the competing athletes," Head Coach Yanique Booth said. "They showed grit and that is very important to see. They are all freshman and the 8k is quite new to them. I do feel cross country prepared them mentally for the track and field season. They are also 400 meters track and field runners and the goals was to build their endurance for track and field season. I am quite pleased with the performance and am looking ahead for track season."

Held at the Hardeeville School Complex course near host school USC-Beaufort, JWU's Javon St. Firmin placed 74th with a time of 33.43.4 followed by Marlon Deetjen, who placed 79th with a time of 34:02.8. Jasen Santerre rounded out the Wildcat results with a time of 39:28.9 (87th place).
