DAYTONA BEACH, Fla. (January 25, 2020) – The Johnson & Wales (Fla.) track & field team opened its 2020 campaign at The Embry-Riddle Indoor-Outdoor Challenge on Saturday.
The one-day event was held at the ERAU Track & Field Complex.
On the women's side, freshman thrower Alyssa Sturtevant placed seventh in the discus, posting a school-record and Sun Conference qualifying mark of 31.38m.
Freshman distance runner Chelsea Lewis placed 14th in the women's 800m with a time of 2.43:50.
On the men's side, a pair of Wildcats had a strong showing in the 200m. Freshman Jasen Santerre placed 46th with a time of 25.04 followed by junior Darius Campbell, who place d 47th with a time of 25.16.
Sophomore Xavier Charles posted a 25th-place finish in the men's shot put with a mark of 7.67m.
JWU will next compete in the Sharks Invitational at the Ansin Sports Complex in Miramar, Florida, on Saturday, February 22.
