JWU Track & Field Continues Spring Season at NSU Shark Invitational

MIRAMAR, Fla. (February 23, 2020)
– The Johnson & Wales (Fla.) track & field team posted five Top-5 finishes and recorded seven PRs during the NSU Shark Invitational on Saturday, February 22.

Held at the Ansin Sports Complex, the NSU Shark Invitational featured a field of five schools.  

On the women's side in the field events, freshman Alyssa Sturtevant posted a sixth-place finish in the discus throw with a mark of 30.93m. Freshman Martha Dauphin placed fourth in the shot put, recording a PR with a throw of 9.84m.

In the track events, junior Chelsea Lewis, place seventh in 800m with a PR of 2:41.93.

In the men's field events, freshman Jobed Phanord placed third in the discus with a PR throw of 30.34m. Sophomore Xavier Charles placed seventh in the shot put with, setting a new PR with a mark of 8.17m.

In the track events, freshman Javon St. Firmin placed fourth in the 400m Dash with a time of 53.05 (PR). Freshman Nickalus Knight posted a fifth-place finish in the 200m Dash with a time of 24.23 (PR) followed by junior Darius Campbell's time of 24.86 (PR) good for 11th place.

JWU will next take part in the UT Track Invitational in Tampa, Florida, on Friday, February 28.
