Booth Adds Yenilitza Roman for 2020-2021 Season

NORTH MIAMI, Fla. (June 3, 2020) -- Head Coach Yanique Booth announced on Wednesday the addition of Yenilitza Roman to the Johnson & Wales (Fla.) track & field/cross country team for the 2020-2021 season.

Roman, a graduate of Freedom High School in Orlando, Florida, is a native of Puerto Rico. A distance runner, Roman posted top times of 1:52.45 in the 600m (Bob Mosher Wildcat Open – 2/17/20), 2:29.63 in the 800m (Toho Invitational – 2/29/20), and 5:41.25 in the 1,600m (Brian Jaeger Elite Classic – 3/7/20) during her senior season. She was also a member of the Patriot's 4x400 Relay and 4x800 Relay teams.

Also a cross country runner, Roman competed at the 2019 FHSAA 4A – Region 3 meet where she posted a time of 20:58, falling short of a spot in the state finals.

Comparing her top times from with those in the Sun Conference this past year, Roman's mark of 2:29.63 in the 800m would have placed her as the second-fastest time in the league, while her top time of 20:58 at the cross country state regionals was better than 54 other runners at the 2019 Sun Conference Cross Country Championships (Hardeeville School Complex – hosted by USCB).
